The House (Arrest) Party with Anna Delvey

December 3, 2022

Anna Delvey teamed up with New York-based gallery The Locker Room to throw “The House (Arrest) Party” for art collectors at a private residence in Miami on Saturday, December 3rd. The Locker Room hosted an exclusive Art Basel Miami party which featured artwork Delvey created while on house arrest after serving four years in prison. Delvey appeared virtually for a Q&A during the event.

“The famous fraudster Anna Sorokin (aka Anna Delvey) is making her presence felt in Miami via a live Zoom Q&A scheduled for this weekend (3 December). Delvey is promoting her own “art” at a top secret special event called The House (Arrest) Party which, we are told, will be attended by musicians Boogieman and Sight Beyond Sound (whoever they are). A press statement gushes that “Delvey’s new work represents the incorporation of acrylics and canvas following her greater access to materials following [sic] her incarceration and creation while famously on house arrest in NYC.”

“Sponsored by the Locker Room, a Brooklyn-based gallery and ‘creative house,’ the event marks the debut of a new series of works by Delvey, who adopted an art hobby while detained in a correctional facility this year.

Back then, the would-be artist was working with colored pencils, pens, and paper—the only supplies allowed by the detention center workers monitoring her mail. But since being released in October, Delvey has expanded her chest of tools: This weekend’s event, dubbed the ‘House (Arrest) Party,’ features four new acrylic paintings on canvas.

The Locker Room has been working with Delvey since her release from ICE detainment, the representative explained. Last month, the gallery tapped her to curate a show of works by Locker Room artists, all of which were hung in Delvey’s own apartment.”
